It's been smooth sailing towards Deep Gap...
No rain, not much traffic... weather is absolutely gorgeous! And the views! My God! The Mountains are awesome!!!
Things are going great... I've checked my map and looks like I take I-40 to I-81, then onto I-181 south.
Which is exactly what I did, except I missed the exit for I-181 south.
No problem, I said... I'll just turn around and get it from the other way.
Unfortunately, you can't. That's right, you can't get there from here. If you miss it, you're hosed.
No problem, I'll just head parallel with it on another road going the same way and scoot on over to it from another angle.
Sorry bub... can't do that either.
After about 2 hours, I finally decided it was time to open up the laptop computer and check the maps.
Sure enough, I can get there from here, but you have to go north to get south and then you have to go north again to go east (hang in there, it gets better)
So, I go north to head back south, and then I turned north to head back east... (I'm just following what the map said)... all of this is making no sense, but that is what the map is telling me I need to do. (yes, Dad I can read a map)
Lost... Totally lost.
Time to break out the GPS... but how in the world do I look at a GPS screen while I'm driving the bike?
No problem, I just sit it in my lap and between the handlebars and go for it! (Mom, don't read this)
Here's a pix:

It's easy as pie to follow the GPS to Deep Gap this way... so that is what I do.
I'm totally enjoying the experience... My geek rating has got to be off the charts now.
Now in Deep Gap, I call my friend Andy on my cell phone and get the final directions to his home (he lives on 30 acres on top of a mountain with no address).
He gives me the directions and I head towards the mountain... clouds roll in, thunder claps, before I can put my cell phone away, rain is POURING DOWN!!!!
Everything is getting wet. ( My Goldwing does a great job of keeping me dry when it's moving . but when it's stopped, I get drenched )
Hurriedly, I get the bike up to speed and I am no longer a sponge for the downfall.
But I can't have the computer sit in my lap (as in the pix) because computers do not like to operate 'wet'... so, I stop the bike, put the computer away and jump back on the bike and start moving again.
Now what were those directions again?
To top it all off, the rain is coming down so hard that I can't see 15 feet in front of the bike... Lord help me.
Ok, time to call a favor... I called Andy and asked if he would please 'meet' me somewhere so that I could follow him to his house. (thanks Andy!)
Now for some sleep... Tomorrow I start earning the money that's going to pay for this vacation!
