Mind or body? Academia or sports? I was recently asked if it was more important to push one of my potentials over the other... And if I didn't believe pushing myself to my greatest potential is necessary or important, could I answer the question: Do you think the physical or the mental is more important?
Here is my answer:
Potential is meaningless to me. Unless you mean my potential to shed my clothes of forgetfullness as a means to remember that which gave everything to me (God, my Father).
But really, I believe that my body is meaningless and only has the value that I assign to it.
I am not my body.
And I will be here long past the time my body has turned to dust... So putting a lot of effort into my body during this short lifetime is only benficial to me if it serves to help me remember who I am.
I believe the body is merely a vehicle made to 're-learn' truths that have existed outside of time and are forever unchanged.
Utlimately, the body is a seperation device because it cannot 'be' everything. It can only exist in time and for a short time.
Obviously we need exercise in order for the body to function properly, so physical fitness is a requirement for physical existance, but to place physical fitness as an end 'goal' for me is not something that I think is important.
So to put my 'belief' in the body, (i.e. favor the body over the mind) is not justifiable for me.
To favor the mental over the body is equally meaningless to me.
'Mental' implies that decisions and judgements must happen. But think about the concept of truth.
Truth is...
The moment you try to define what Truth is, you change your perception of it.
It is difficult to speak about Truth without imparting some of my beliefs on it... But here is what I have come to know about Truth so far in this lifetime.
Truth is not bound by one's judgements about it. It is not affected by our 'belief' in it. It is not changed by our 'mental' attitudes concerning it.
Mental activity without judgement or decisions about what is can be a goal, but Knowledge does not need any mental activity.
Knowledge is Truth alive!
When we remember that we are God, we BECOME Knowledge and ARE Truth.
I could go on this topic for at least a book or two... So I'll stop here.
Thanks for reading.
