Cooperation

Lately, I have noticed that many people are gravitating towards doing music production by themselves or working with a single individual.

It seems that the state of a combined thought process is no longer considered a valuable tool...  or at least that is the way I've been seeing it lately.

Not that I haven't done exactly the same thing in the past...  I sure have... I may have even invented it...  But I'm starting to realize the importance and necessity of having more than one person work on something in the spirit of cooperating and combined efforts.

This applies to just about everything... but especailly music.

The trend now days is for one person to do all of the things necessary for a song to be produced on a computer...  And there are advantages to doing it that way... it's cheaper (generally), there is not as many arguments with band members (since there are none), it tends to sound more 'thought out',  and the artist only has to deal with one person as apposed to a plethora of people when they want to get something done.

However, I have come to believe that having more than one brain work on a project provides more processing power for making decisions...  and the end product can sound more exciting.

It's just not possible for one person to think of EVERYTHING...   There is too much to know for that to happen.

I wish that this industry would move back towards the cooperation model away from the 'one guy' model...

Music production would be a whole lot more fun that way.
